New Officer in Charge for St. Albert RCMP Detachment

The City of St. Albert and the RCMP are pleased to announce that Staff Sergeant Aaron White will become the new Officer in Charge of the St. Albert RCMP detachment at Maloney Place. He is anticipated to take on this new position in early 2026.

“On behalf of City Council, we welcome Staff Sergeant White to our community as he undertakes this essential role,” says Mayor Scott Olivieri. “St. Albert is well known for being one of the safest communities in Canada, and with Staff Sergeant White coming onboard we will work alongside him to ensure this holds true now, and into the future.”

White is a 20-year veteran of the RCMP, having worked across four provinces and territories. His career has included work in detachment and district operations, emergency management, the Critical Incident Program, tactical training, forensic identification services and as an underwater recovery diver.

Before joining the RCMP, Staff Sergeant White served as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and worked with several levels of government in various emergency services programs. Having served in both frontline and leadership roles, he values strong partnerships with municipal leaders, community organizations and residents. He is focused on maintaining St. Albert’s reputation as a safe and connected community through open communication, proactive policing, and a collaborative approach to problem solving. Married with two kids (and two dogs), his family is looking forward to joining the St. Albert community.

“The St. Albert Policing Committee is very pleased to welcome Staff Sergeant White as our new RCMP Detachment Commander,” says Paul Specht, Policing Committee Chair. “We look forward to working with him and the entire RCMP detachment on the priorities developed through the Annual Policing Plan which reflects the policing and safety issues that are important to our community.”

The City and St. Albert RCMP are grateful for the outstanding leadership provided by retired Inspector Ryan Comaniuk, and to Staff Sergeant Dwayne Moore for his steady guidance and hard work over the past year serving as the Interim Detachment Commander.
