Passing of Former Mayor Paul Chalifoux
Mentor will be missed
On behalf of St. Albert City Council, Mayor Cathy Heron would like to extend her deepest condolences to the family, friends and neighbours of former Mayor Paul Chalifoux.
Mr. Chalifoux served as St. Albert’s Mayor from 1998 to 2001 and again from 2004 to 2007. He also served as a City Alderman from 1992 to 1998.
“Mr. Chalifoux was an inspirational leader who took the time to mentor others, including me,” says Mayor Heron. “He served St. Albert with vision, commitment and wisdom and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
He lived by the rules of collaboration. He treated everyone with respect. He encouraged varying opinions. He could make a decision decisively and move on, but always explained “why.” Whether he was teaching, volunteering or coaching he was always leading.
Out of respect for Mr. Chalifoux’s passing, the flags at St. Albert Place have been lowered to half-mast.
