COVID-19 Recovery Task Force Meeting Update

Meeting held on April 21, 2021

Members of the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force met virtually on April 21, 2021 to discuss how the committee will support St. Albert’s economic and social recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The What We Heard Report, from the stakeholder engagement sessions held in March 2021, was received as information by the Recovery Task Force. The Task Force will use the What We Heard Report to address gaps identified within the Interim Report that was presented to Council in December 2020.

The Task Force participated in the inaugural Planning Forward: Setting the Context exercise. “We were the first to participate in this important exercise, but I’m excited to see what ideas the community comes up with,” says Mayor Heron. She adds, “The community as a whole plays an important role in how we grow as a municipality. The exercise is open to all to generate community ideas for revenue-generating initiatives.”

St. Albertans can now participate in this exercise on the City's Cultivate the Conversation engagement platform.

The Task Force also received an update on recovery implementation activities through Q1 2021, as part of the Q1 Recovery Task Force Quarterly Report.

Members of the Recovery Task Force are calling on fellow St. Albertans to register to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible, to help bring the pandemic to an end and transition to post-pandemic recovery.  Many on the Task Force have been vaccinated, are now eligible for vaccination, or are scheduled to be vaccinated shortly.

The Recovery Task Force is a 10-member committee, which includes a cross-section of business and community leaders, who will make recommendations to Council.

The next Recovery Task Force meeting is scheduled to take place on May 26, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
