Mayor Heron and Mayoral Colleagues Discussed Shared Priorities at the Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus Meeting Held in St. Albert
Last week, St. Albert Mayor Cathy Heron hosted mayors from across Alberta for the Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus Fall Meeting, which was held in St. Albert from October 16 to 18, 2024.
During the event, members of the Caucus met with Premier Danielle Smith and Provincial Cabinet Ministers to strengthen the Caucus’ relationship with the Government of Alberta and to advocate for its priorities.
In addition to the meeting with the Premier and Cabinet Ministers, the mayors discussed shared priorities and ways they could work together to enhance intergovernmental relationships. They focused on issues of significance to their residents, including affordability, infrastructure funding, changes to Automated Traffic Enforcement and costs associated with the Province’s changes to local elections through Bill 20.
“St. Albert was pleased to host the fall meeting of the Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus,” says Mayor Cathy Heron. “The event was a great opportunity to have meaningful discussions with other mayors representing cities of similar size and to explore ways we can continue to make progress on advancing our interests with other levels of government. It was also an extreme pleasure to showcase St. Albert to elected officials from across our province.”
The Mid-Sized Cities Mayors’ Caucus includes 24 municipalities from across Alberta and represents over 1 million (1 in four) Albertans.
