St. Albert Centre Exchange to Temporarily Relocate to Muir Drive

St. Albert Transit (StAT) is advising all transit users that the St. Albert Centre Exchange transit terminal will be temporarily relocating to Muir Drive starting April 28, 2024 until August 25, 2024. The relocation is needed to accommodate construction for the St. Albert Trail Water Line Repair Project, which involves building a new watermain crossing under the Sturgeon River. The watermain will emerge on Rivercrest Crescent at the south end, which is the street that currently leads into and out of the St. Albert Centre Exchange. Rivercrest Crescent will be closed for the duration of construction.

All buses will be redirected to bus stops located along Muir Drive and St. Vital Avenue. Temporary bus signage, with route numbers, will be posted along Muir Drive. Maps of the temporary bus stops, along with the routes using each stop, are available on the StAT website at ridestat.ca

Vehicle parking for transit patrons will remain available at the St. Albert Centre site. Transit users will be required to walk across St. Albert Trail to Muir Drive. Parking along Muir Drive will not be permitted. The intersection of Muir Drive and St. Vital Avenue will be adjusted to a four-way stop to accommodate the temporary relocation and the additional vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

St. Albert Transit will continue to offer Park and Ride services to a number of local events such as the St. Albert Farmers’ Market and the International Children's Festival of the Arts, either from the temporary Muir Drive transit terminal or from Nakî Transit Centre. Further details will be provided at a later date.

Construction that will be taking place during the transit terminal relocation includes:

  • Installation of a new watermain crossing under the Sturgeon River to bypass the St. Albert Trail bridge.
  • Installation of new pipe on Rivercrest Crescent and through Red Willow Park, to tie into the existing watermain on St. Albert Trail.
  • Abandonment of the existing damaged watermain under the St. Albert Trail bridge.
