Note: An updated version of this news release was issued September 11, 2025

Correction: The original version of the PSA sent Sept. 8 incorrectly showed Monday rather than Tuesday. Our apologies for any confusion.

Join us for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Mission Park on Tuesday, September 30 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Honour the survivors of and the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Admission to this event is free and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. The event will include guest speakers, knowledge keepers, performers, artisans, exhibits, food vendors and an Honour Walk from Mission Park to Kâkesimokamik/The Healing Garden.

The City of St. Albert is pleased to announce that the first Public Art bus will be officially unveiled at this event. Last Spring, a call for artists was issued asking for applications for a public art project that would see an artist create work for the exterior of a bus in response to a chosen theme. Linda M. Wright, a Gwich’in artist originally from Inuvik, Northwest Territories who now resides in Edmonton, Alberta, was chosen by a selection committee for this project.

Event details:

  • When: Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Mission Park (15 Mission Ave)
