Update: AHS lifts Water Quality Advisory for Sturgeon River; Kingswood Boat Dock now open
Updated at 10:45 a.m. on June 19 2026: Alberta Health Services has lifted its water quality advisory for the for the Sturgeon River at the Kingswood Boat Dock, Kingswood Park Day Loop, and Kingswood Park Disc Golf Course in St. Albert effective immediately. The water quality advisory has been lifted becuase water quality has returned to an acceptable level, and the health risk is low for usage of the water for recreational purposes.
Several holes still remain closed (holes 14 to 16) within the Kingswood Park Disc Golf Course. The City will provide more information when this amenity reopens.

Updated at 1 p.m. on June 8, 2026: The City reopened a portion of the Red Willow Trail system along the Kingswood Park Day Loop.
The Kingswood Boat Dock remains closed due to the water quality advisory issued by Alberta Health Services on June 5, 2026. If residents have any health concerns regarding the situation, they are asked to call Health Link at 811.
Several holes remain closed within the Kingswood Park Disc Golf Course. The City will provide more information when these amenities reopen.

Updated at 9 p.m. on June 5, 2026: Alberta Health Services has issued a public health advisory for the Sturgeon River, and as such, the Kingswoood Boat Dock remains closed.
Updated at 12 p.m. on June 5, 2026: A portion of the Red Willow Trail system remains temporarily closed along the Kingswood Park Day Loop. This includes the Kingswood Boat Dock, and several holes are not operational within the Kingswood Park Disc Golf Course.
To ensure your safety, the trail closure is marked by signage, barricades and caution tape. Please avoid this area entirely until the City of St. Albert has announced its reopening.
Update: Due to a regional wastewater pipeline break near the corner of Sir Winston Churchill Avenue and Kingswood Drive on June 1, some wastewater was released into the Sturgeon River. Residents are asked to stay away from the Sturgeon River until Alberta Health Services has completed its water testing. If residents have any health concerns regarding the situation, they are asked to call Health Link at 811.
Crews are working on behalf of Arrow Utilities to repair the wastewater pipe. Due to the repair work underway, a portion of the Red Willow Trail system is temporarily closed along the Kingswood Park Day Loop. The trail is closed from near the Botanic Park through to the pathways leading to the Kingswood Day Park entrance.
Signage, barricades and caution tape has been placed around the perimeter of the work site, which is not open to the public. Please see the updated map below for the exclusion zone, which the public is not permitted to enter.
For the Kingswood Park Disc Golf Course, several holes are not operational and the Kingswood Boat Dock also remains closed.
Editor's Note: Italicized text was updated at 3:15 p.m. on June 2, 2026: The Kingswood Park Day Use Building (including the bathroom facilities) has re-opened and the parking lot at Kingswood Park remains open.
The City will provide more updates on the temporary trail, disc golf and boat dock closures as the repairs progress.
