City Launches Well-being App to Support Emergency Services Personnel

The City of St. Albert is committed to providing our employees with hands-on tools to support their health and well-being and recently began collaborating with TELUS Health to introduce the Espri by TELUS Health app to our Emergency Services personnel.

Espri by TELUS Health is a mobile app that provides our first responders, dispatchers and municipal employees within Policing and Fire Services with direct access to targeted mental health resources. Developed with guidance from occupation-focused clinicians, this app offers a unique combination of tools designed to support prevention, enable timely access to help during crises and promote overall mental well-being. The resources available in the app are specifically tailored to address the unique mental health challenges associated with these professions, supporting users' well-being throughout their careers.

We want to acknowledge the importance of the incredible work that our Emergency Services employees do in the service of others. Providing critically important care to the community can be very rewarding, but also very challenging. This app will allow them to take care of themselves by building healthy habits into their daily routines and using one-touch, confidential access to crisis and relatable wellness resources 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This app is a testament to the hard work being undertaken as part of the City’s Psychological Health and Safety Project which began in 2022.

The City thanks the Government of Alberta for providing funding to support the availability of this new resource through its Supporting Psychological Health in First Responders Grant Program.
