Lacombe Park West - Park Planning
About the Project
The neighbourhood of Lacombe Park West is a popular and growing community on the north-west side of St. Albert. In 2015, the City completed a Parks Master Plan for Lacombe Park West and phase one construction at Lafleur and Leveque Parks was completed in 2016.
Planning is currently underway for phase two, which will include design for park and recreation amenity development at Lachance Park and Legacy Storm Water Management Facility. This will consist of trail connections, open spaces, outdoor fitness equipment, and landscaping.
Additionally, the building and boardwalk at Lacombe Lake Park is undergoing a design exercise to address repairs to ensure the longevity of those amenities. This will include refurbishment of the building, and repairs of the trail connections, boardwalk and cove. Implementation for both construction projects is planned for 2019 and onward.
An open house took place on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Bellerose Composite High School where residents were able to provide feedback on the park and recreation amenity development for Lacombe Park West Phase Two and learn about the work being proposed to the Lacombe Lake Park building and boardwalk.
An online survey was made available from April 18 - May 1, 2018 for residents who were unable to attend the open house. Through the survey, residents were able to give feedback on the Lacombe Park West Phase Two Concept Plan.
The concept plans for Lacombe Park West were recently updated since the initial open house and survey, and a second survey was made available from August 3 - 17, 2018. Residents were encouraged to view the new concept plans and then fill out a short survey. The feedback collected will ensure the City has a strong vision for future trail linkages and park amenities for the remaining park sites in Lacombe Park West (Lachance Park and Legacy Stormwater Management Facility).
