Lacombe Park West - Park Planning
About the Project
The neighbourhood of Lacombe Park West is a popular and growing community on the north-west side of St. Albert. In 2015, the City completed a Parks Master Plan for Lacombe Park West and phase one construction at Lafleur and Leveque Parks was completed in 2016.
Planning for Phase 2 is now complete and includes:
- Enhancements for Lachance Park, which included a nature-themed playground, existing bike trail improvements, more trail connections, and landscaping.
- Addressing the trail gaps to Lacombe Park Lake and to McKenney Avenue.
- Completing Legacy Stormwater Management Facility design with landscaping, a seating node, and asphalt trails that fully connect existing trails in the Lacombe Park West area.
An open house took place on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Bellerose Composite High School where residents were able to provide feedback on the park and recreation amenity development for Lacombe Park West Phase Two and learn about the work being proposed to the Lacombe Lake Park building and boardwalk.
An online survey was made available from April 18 - May 1, 2018 for residents who were unable to attend the open house. Through the survey, residents were able to give feedback on the Lacombe Park West Phase Two Concept Plan.
The concept plans for Lacombe Park West were recently updated since the initial open house and survey, and a second survey was made available from August 3 - 17, 2018. Residents were encouraged to view the new concept plans and then fill out a short survey. The feedback collected will ensure the City has a strong vision for future trail linkages and park amenities for the remaining park sites in Lacombe Park West (Lachance Park and Legacy Stormwater Management Facility).
