Smoking Bylaw Survey

Thank you to everyone who provided input on the City of St. Albert's Smoking Bylaw. The survey closed on April 1, 2019. Your participation in the online and/or onsite survey helped inform Council's decision regarding amendments to the bylaw.

Survey results (see Resources) were presented to St. Albert City Council at the May 13, 2019 Governance, Priorities and Finance Committee Meeting.

Next Steps

Administration will present amendments to the Smoking Bylaw to Council by Sept.16, 2019. Proposed amendments will increase restrictions by banning smoking and vaping in public parks, trails within parks and within 10 metres of doorways, without enacting a full prohibition in the community.

Administration will also consult with School Boards, Community Services Advisory Committee, Youth Advisory Committee, Seniors Advisory Committee, Environmental Advisory Committee, Chamber of Commerce and Homeland Housing prior to bringing these amendments to Council.
