Growing up working in the hospitality sector, Sam Gundy, Managing Director of Ribeye Butcher Shop, knows what it takes to serve the community great food with a great experience. From growing up and working in a family run old country inn, to owning and operating local food businesses in Ontario where he grew up, Sam now offers the community of St. Albert, and the region, a new favorite local food store: Ribeye Butcher Shop.
Their first location opened in Erin Ridge in November 2022 with great reception from the St. Albert community. The decision to open in St. Albert was made easy for Ribeye Butcher Shop partly because of the ease in the business license and permitting process. “The city is welcoming for new businesses” Sam said.
Their website describes the business as “Bringing back the classic qualities and butchery experience from the good old days with modern day convenience”. Customers can get everything they need for dinner or entertaining with more categories than the average butcher shop offerings. Kyle Woods, General Manager and head butcher, says that “the regulars we have been able to acquire in the last three months have been great…and the feedback is that we have so much more selection”. Offering everything from their premium Alberta fresh meat selections to Japanese Wagyu, prepared foods, infamous Wilhauk jerky and other local favorites, wine & beer, and desserts.
Another thing that sets Ribeye Butcher Shop apart from your average butcher shop is that they have a dine-in area located in their shop. Next time you are getting your shopping done you can stop in for lunch or dinner and check out their “Smash Burger” menu. The smash burger is made to order and was just named one of the best things to eat in Edmonton in 2023 by The Tomato Food & Drink magazine.
Ribeye Butcher Shop partners with a local fresh food delivery company who are leaders in the region. Offering same-day local delivery in St. Albert, Edmonton and Sherwood Park, and overnight delivery elsewhere in the province.
With their Manning Town Centre location in Edmonton opening last month, and two more stores opening this month in Edmonton (Terra Losa & Windermere), they are rapidly expanding and are looking to hire, aiming to staff each store with 15 people. The exceptional customer service and knowledgeable trained staff keep customers coming back for more.
