Oil City Signs Expands into St. Albert

The journey of Oil City Signs Inc. began in 2012 when co-owners Julie Quantz-Kovak and Joe Kovak started creating custom signs in the basement of their home.

However, it didn’t take long before the demand overwhelmed the space.

Watch how their journey to expansion took them to St. Albert and how they’ve grown their product line and capacity as a result.

Three years into their small business journey, Julie and Joe outgrew the space needed to operate and opened a location in Riel Business Park. They started with 2,500 sq. ft. of space, but within a year of expansion took over the entire building at 31 Rayborn Crescent.

Additional space and new equipment investments has allowed them to get into new offerings for their business such as manufacturing LED channel letters and having lots of fun creating vehicle wraps.

“We can pretty much turn anybody’s logo into a lit sign now. It’s pretty exciting to watch a client see their new brand in lights,” says Julie.

Julie and Joe are not strangers to the St. Albert business community. Julie was familiar with the Chamber of Commerce, City and the business community in St. Albert.

“We figured this was a great community to start a business, and we have had great support from business and the people around here. It was scary and we did and I’m glad we did take that leap and here we are today,” adds Joe.

There is room to grow for businesses already located in St. Albert and those looking to expand somewhere new with a variety of commercial and retail space for lease or purchase.
