Right Here in St. Albert Video Series Launches with Orion Plastics

The City is launching an eight-part video series showcasing a variety of local businesses that have set up shop right here in St. Albert. The first four videos will be featured every Monday during the month of June with the next four released in the fall.

Orion Plastics manufactures custom extruded plastic sheet products and has been exporting products globally across a variety of industry sectors, from the RV and automotive industry to marine and sports & recreation industries for over 20 years.
Orion Plastics Inc. has grown and adapted to meet a critical market demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic one of the items we noticed that was in short supply was melt-blown polypropylene non-woven fabric,” says Stephen Moore, co-founder of Orion Plastics Inc. This fabric is used to make medical cloth masks andwith their growing team of expertise at Orion Plastics they were able to quickly pivot to meet the demand of this new market.
“We were able to look at this challenge and quickly decide that we could figure out how to do it, and we began producing melt-blown polypropylene in July 2020 and are supplying to all of the large medical mask manufacturers, as well as garment manufacturers that are producing cloth masks,” adds Stephen.
Orion Plastics Inc prioritizes sustainable business practices and is committed to reducing their carbon footprint. This local business also continues to invest in new technology, and manufacturing equipment to expand into new markets and create new jobs right here in St. Albert.
