Sports Field Refurbishments
About the Project
The City recognizes the value and importance of long-term planning that addresses recreation needs for residents for the next 20 to 30 years. This planning not only includes new developments to accommodate the City’s growing population, but also repair, maintain and replace (RMR) programs and lifecycle programs to manage all existing facilities, parks and outdoor spaces.
Sports fields within the City require ongoing maintenance to ensure the fields are safe for users. Yearly assessments are completed to prioritize the fields that require rehabilitation.
In 2021, the following sports fields are being refurbished:
- The four ball diamonds at Langley Park are the last to be addressed as part of the multi-year refurbishment program.
work being done
- Backstop replacement
- Player bench and safety fence installation
- Conversion of two diamond infields to shale surface
- Landscape rehabilitation of disturbed areas
The project is scheduled to be completed by August 20, 2021, weather permitting.
