Bridge Program

The City of St. Albert and its residents rely on a well-maintained transportation network for economic activity, access to services and residential commutes, which includes a network of bridge structures. To maintain our bridge network, the City of St. Albert oversees assessments of each structure every 1-3 years. The City uses these assessments to prioritize bridge structures for rehabilitation or replacement at the appropriate time to maximize budget and minimize disruption to users.

The City is planning on rehabilitating and reconstructing bridges in 2023 and 2024. Rehabilitation work is done to extend the service life and reduce the overall maintenance requirements; Reconstruction is done as the bridge has reached, or is nearing the end of, its serviceable life.

THE FOLLOWING BRIDGES ARE undergoing REHABILITATION IN 2024:

  • Perron Street Bridge
  • St. Albert Trail Bridge

Note: Trail closures will be occuring underneath each bridge during construction due to required trail rehabilitation. Please follow detour signage in place to avoid active work zones.
