Road Evaluation

Occurring throughout a road’s lifecycle

  • The City gathers and evaluates a third of the road network within St. Albert each year. These measurements give the City insight into the ride condition, surface distress and structural adequacy of the road.
  • This information helps determine the type of treatment a road needs so it is used at the appropriate time to maximize road quality, budget and minimize disruption to users.
  • Residents can expect to see machines and vehicles, which make frequent stops while testing the roadways, during the months of May through August.
  • In addition to roadways, the City is constantly trying to coordinate the outputs of this road data with other branches such as Utilities. This information is reviewed to ensure that City infrastructure is renewed in alignment with a strategy that captures as many City assets at the same time with major projects; while being economical and minimizing disruption to residents.
