Sidewalk Trip Hazards
Within St. Albert, a trip hazard reflects any crack or joint in a concrete walkway with a vertical change of 15 millimetres or greater.
In 2020, the City assessed sidewalk infrastructure to identify conditions and locations of trip hazards and developed a work plan to remove all recorded locations meeting the criteria of a “trip hazard” within a three-year period from 2021 to 2023. To date, 6,400 trip hazard removals have taken place across the city.
