Villeneuve Road
The Project
Villeneuve Road, between Ray Gibbon Drive and St. Albert Trail, is a connector arterial roadway in the City’s transportation network. Upgrading of the existing rural cross-section is underway to deliver an urbanized roadway complete with shared-use paths/sidewalks, streetlighting, underground stormwater and utilities, landscaping and intersection improvements.
Timeline
Construction is being delivered in a phased, multi-year approach, which began in 2022 and is expected to continue through 2029 with gaps in construction years.

Phased Work
The most recent phase being delivered was Phase 1B, which consists of reconstructing the portion of Villeneuve Road between the Dennison Drive/Jensen Gate roundabout and the commercial access (Walmart) roundabout. The bulk of this phase was constructed in 2023, with the shared-use path on the north side and landscaping constructed in 2024. This phase is now under contractor warranty.
Villeneuve Road Phase 2 is in the design phase and anticipated to begin construction in 2025, with work being phased over the 2025 and 2026 construction seasons. Work planned for 2025 includes urbanizing the portion of Villeneuve Road from west of Nouveau Drive to the intersection of Hogan Road, including construction of a new roundabout at the Villeneuve Road/Hogan Road intersection. Please refer to the Villeneuve Road Urbanization page for more information.
