
Hydrant Replacement Program
About the Project
The Fire Hydrant Replacement Program is an annual program that inspects, maintains, and replaces fire hydrants in the city.
Hydrants are in existing neighborhoods and could be located in or adjacent to sidewalk panels, driveways, boulevards and/or trees.
The City of St Albert has a total of 1,792 fire hydrants.
In 2024, 14 to 18 hydrants and valve replacements are anticipated to be replaced.
Work to include:
- Replacement of existing fire hydrants, cathodic protection and hydrant valves
- Site restoration (sod and concrete)
- Landscape maintenance

Potential Construction Impacts
Construction is anticipated to impact the boulevard, driveway and sidewalk.
- Limited on-street parking.
- Portions of the sidewalks, boulevard and roadways will be temporarily closed.
- Open excavation. Please obey all signage and fenced-off areas.
- Equipment will be on-site for excavation and materials installation.
- Noise disturbance will occur during work hours.
