Outfall 5 and Meadowview Lane Utility Upgrades
About the Project
As of 2025, approximately 22,000 storm sewer services are connected to the City of St. Albert. Protecting the Sturgeon River from the impacts of existing and future developments has always been a priority for the City of St. Albert (City). The City has identified Outfall 5 for implementation of two oil and grit separators (OGS) to remove sediment and other pollutants from stormwater before it reaches the Sturgeon River.
To support ongoing neighborhood development in the Riverside area to the west of Meadowview Lane included in the scope of this project is the replacement of the aging asbestos cement water main along Meadowview Lane, including the CN Rail crossing.
Work to include:
- 17 Riel Drive
- Supply and Install two Oil and Grit Separators at Outfall 5
- Meadowview Lane Utility Upgrades:
- Replace existing water main along Meadowview Lane north of Meadowview Drive, including a trenchless CN Rail crossing with steel casing.
- Supply and install a new sanitary sewer.
- Abandon existing sanitary forcemains.
- Relocation of one (1) fire hydrant.
- Abandon four (4) inverted siphon pipes under and adjacent to the Sturgeon River.
- Abandon 450 mm sanitary sewer along Meadowview Lane that leads into the four river crossing siphon pipes.
- Abandon existing manholes and chambers.
Potential Construction Impacts:
- Temporary sidewalk/trail closures. Please obey all signage for safety reasons.
- Equipment will be on-site for excavation and material installation. Please obey all signage and fenced-off areas.
- Noise disturbance will occur during work hours.
