Sanitary Line Improvements

About the Project

The City is looking to rehabilitate some sections of the existing sanitary sewer system along Sir Winston Churchill Avenue and within the Braeside neighbourhood. It has been identified through CCTV that the sewer and manholes require rehabilitation through cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining.

CIPP lining will:
•    be installed through existing manhole accesses.
•    restore the structural integrity of the sewer for another 50 years.
•    enhance the corrosion resistance.
•    improve the pipe’s hydraulic capacity.
•    reduce potential for odour nuisance.

Work to include:

•    Lining of existing sewers to improve capacity.
•    Lining of existing manholes.
•    Some spot repairs of existing sanitary sewer lines.
•    Restoration of areas disturbed.

Potential Consutruction Impacts:

During lining operations, residents can anticipate the following potential construction impacts:
•    Local traffic disruptions
•    Possible trail closure
•    Noise from construction equipment
•    Odour from sewer cleaning and lining operations
•    Short-term service disruption

Project Timeline:

Construction is anticipated to take place from June to October 2025.
