Household Sewer Service Line Replacement Program

About the Project

As of 2024, approximately 22,000 sanitary sewer services are connected to the City of St. Albert wastewater collection system. Predominately all services installed prior to 1980 consist of either concrete, clay tile or no-corrode.

Over the past decade, the City has conducted a proactive repair, maintain or replacement (RMR) program of aged, deteriorated or deficient service lines of the City portion (from mainline to property line) of household sanitary sewer services.

The Utilities branch normally performs over 1,200 sanitary sewer inspections annually as part of its in-home maintenance service. This program captures CCTV inspection and rating of the current condition/state of the entire sanitary sewer service from point of entry within the home to the City wastewater main to determine if either scheduled maintenance is sufficient in upholding a reasonable state of sewer service reliability or if the sewer service is deemed applicable for repair, replacement or relining.

Work to include:

  • CCTV pre-inspection to be completed to confirm location and limits of repair
  • Replacement of existing sewer service line
  • CCTV post inspection
  • Site restoration (sod and concrete)
  • Landscape maintenance where required
