The Vital Role of Downtown
Downtown St. Albert has the opportunity to be a unique, walkable and attractive community. The downtown plays a vital role in enhancing both the community’s economic vitality and the quality of life for its residents.
Numerous City projects have advanced to enhance the downtown core, some guided by the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP). In January 2024, a staff report) identified that, of the 28 initiatives referenced within the DARP, approximately one-third had been completed, another one-third were underway at the time, and the remaining one-third had not been started.
