Truck Routes
A “truck” is defined as any vehicle that is greater than 11 metres in length or is registered to operate at a maximum gross weight of 8,000 kilograms or more, excluding registered Disabled Persons Vehicles, Recreational Vehicles, School Buses or Transit Vehicles.
Trucks must use designated Truck Routes. Similarly, any vehicle transporting any amount of Dangerous Goods into, through or out of St. Albert, must use a designated Dangerous Goods Route. If the destination cannot be reached directly from a Truck Route or Dangerous Good Route, the safest, most direct and practicable route to or from the nearest Truck Route/Dangerous Good Route shall be used.
The majority of Truck Routes in the City allow for 24-hour operations; however, certain routes may be Time-Limited (i.e. accessible to trucks between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday) or Date-Limited, as shown on the Truck Route Map.
