Neil Ross Road
Currently, approximately 350 metres of Neil Ross Road has been constructed as an urban four-lane divided arterial roadway between St. Albert Trail and Element Drive in northern St. Albert.
Neil Ross Road is planned as an east-west crosstown arterial extending east, tying into Coal Mine Road in Sturgeon County, and intersecting with 127 Street, a future regional arterial roadway.
The City of St. Albert, in collaboration with Sturgeon County, completed functional planning of Neil Ross Road in 2022 that investigated, analyzed and identified the preferred future alignment of Neil Ross Road, including intersection locations. The study incorporated existing/approved plans and infrastructure, environmental and geotechnical considerations, stormwater management, traffic analysis and stakeholder/landowner input.
Once constructed, Neil Ross Road will form an integral part of the City’s transportation network, enabling development and growth in the northeast quadrant of the City while also supporting local and regional connectivity.
The roadway will be delivered as needed to support future land development phases. While timelines may change, completion is anticipated within 10 years.
Subsequent preliminary and/or detailed design will be required prior to construction.
