Effective January 1, 2026

The Planning and Development Department will begin applying a non-refundable credit card processing fee of 2.25% to all payments made by credit card. To avoid this fee, payment may be made by debit card, cash, or cheque.

The following application forms are used to complete Planning & Development processes. For any questions regarding their completion, please contact our department at 780-459-1642. Fees related to these applications are charged in accordance with the City's Master Rates Bylaw
 

Online Permit Portal Now Available

The City of St. Albert is launching a new online permit portal! Residents, developers, builders and contractors can make payments online and submit pre-applications as well as building permits and development permits for new single-detached dwellings, semi-detached dwellings and townhouse permits.

A Development Officer will review your application, and once deemed complete, you will be contacted for payment information.

Please note

Front counter services are open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and are closed on weekends and holidays.

The City does not issue refunds for applications once any work has been undertaken.
