Housing Accelerator Fund
The federal government is providing the City of St. Albert with $11.8 million in funding through what’s known as the “Housing Accelerator Fund” grant program – led by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Like most other funded communities across Canada, the City of St. Albert will use this funding to help pay for costs to remove barriers in support of building more housing, more quickly, right here in St. Albert.
City staff are currently working on seven related initiatives. As of April 2026, three initiatives have been completed, and four initiatives are progressing as planned. Progress on individual initiatives and housing supply growth target is reported annually through the Housing Accelerator Fund Progress Report.
