Initiative #1: Transit Corridor Intensification Strategy (Completed)
Update: On October 6, 2026, City Council defeated proposed Bylaw 21/2026. This means that the proposed Land Use Bylaw amendments associated with Housing Accelerator Fund “Initiative #1” (regarding housing along St. Albert Trail) and “Initiative #3” (regarding housing within residential neighbourhoods) were not approved. The goal of this initiative is to guide how St. Albert grows by improving how we plan and redevelop land for housing and mixed-use spaces within up to 800 metres of planned transit nodes along St. Albert Trail.
Aspects of this initiative overlap with Initiative #3 (Neighbourhood Intensification Strategy), and include studies on growth, utility infrastructure and other technical aspects. For complete details, please view the staff report
