What's Happening

Bylaw 37/2020, if passed, will repeal the City of St Albert’s adoption of an Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) between the City and Sturgeon County.

Sturgeon County repealed acceptance of the IDP in 2010, and since then the document has been used as a guiding document only by the City of St. Albert.

As both St. Albert and Sturgeon County are members of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB), both municipalities must adhere to the Growth Plan (EMRGP), which guides development across municipal borders.

Repealing this IDP does not preclude the two municipalities from adopting a future IDP.
