What's Happening

Join the City in celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week when we honour the important contributions made by our Emergency Fire Dispatch employees.

From April 14 - 20, we invite you to show your appreciation for these unseen heroes who serve as the backbone of St. Albert’s emergency services, 24/7.

They're the first point of contact in times of crisis, calmly guiding callers through emergencies and ensuring swift responses from our emergency responders. Remember - just because you don’t see their faces, doesn’t mean they don’t save lives.

We encourage all residents to participate in various appreciation activities, such as posting messages of thanks on social media, sending notes of thanks to our dispatch centres at Fire Hall 3 and the St. Albert RCMP Detachment (Maloney Place), or simply taking a moment to reflect on the vital importance of their work.

When to Call 911

Emergency Dispatch Week is also a great opportunity to educate each other on important information when calling 911:

  • For Emergencies Only: Remember, 911 is reserved for police, fire, and medical emergencies only.
  • Provide Accurate Information: Be prepared to answer questions clearly and provide accurate location details to facilitate a swift response.
  • Stay on the Line: If you mistakenly call dispatch, do not hang up! Inform them of the mistake to avoid any delays in genuine emergencies.
