What's Happening

This Powwow is to celebrate our accomplishments in supporting surrounding communities from addictions for 50-years! This family-friendly event showcases dancers dressed in regalia from different age categories. The Powwow will celebrate and share our Indigenous culture with ceremony, song, and dance. An opportunity for recognition, respect, and nation-to-nation relations.

Historically, our Powwows host over 10,000 people from across the Nations in both Canada and the United States. Some of our special guests include Chief and Councils, local Politicians, Elders, Scholars, RCMP and Military. This event has excellent media coverage to embrace both the achievements of Indigenous people and expression of Indigenous identity across this Nation.

Poundmaker’s Lodge (PML) is an accredited non-profit organization that is situated at the former Edmonton Indian Residential School. This site has been used as an addiction rehabilitation centre since 1973, and it is based on First Nation, Metis, and Inuit concepts and spirituality – empowering all people to recover from their addictions. We would like to invite you to come celebrate not only our achievements, but our commitment to take real, meaningful action to preserve, commemorate, and honour this site. This 50th Annual Powwow will demonstrate the progress we have accomplished as both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Albertans when it comes to reconciliation, an opportunity to support the continuation of truth telling, for an inclusive, integrated Canada.

Your attendance would strengthen our Reconciliation Project to transform this site into a place of learning, healing, and restoration. This is a legacy opportunity. Come support our working projects for reconciliation by celebrating the abundance of Indigenous culture.
