Call for Artists

Application deadline: July 18, 2022

We are searching for an assortment of visual artists to dazzle attendees at the 5th Annual Illuminate: Enlighten the Night; including, photographers, chalk artists and Art Battle participants.

An enchanting evening of youth artwork, Illuminate features poets, writers, photographers, musicians and visual art spread throughout Kingswood Park. Amplify then invites all residents to stroll through the park, discovering the talents of our young, local artists. Illuminate will take place on August 27, 2022.

Opportunities for Visual Artists Include:

  • The Photo Exhibit: surprising and delighting passers-by, Illuminate will host a photography exhibit in the trees, showcasing the snap-tastic skills of our local photographers.
  • The Art Battle: A fun and interactive way to meet artists who often work alone, the Art Battle is a exciting way for attendees to learn about the creative process. Low-pressure and full of positive vibes, the art battle consists of three rounds of fast-paced painting. Each participating artist will have a designated amount of time to create a work of art and then the audience will vote on who they would like to see move on to the next round. Ditch the pressure of perfection and interact with fans of art in a way visual artists rarely get to experience.
  • Chalk Art: Amplify strongly believes is the philosophy of art everywhere! And we have a dream of covering the trails with beautiful chalk art at Illuminate, in order to showcase the talents of our local visual artists. Join us at Illuminate for a evening of chill-creativity besides your fellow artists as we colour the trail with vibrant temporary works. We supply the chalk, you supply the talent!

This event is open to St. Albert and area visual artists (Edmonton, Sturgeon County, Spruce Grove, etc.) Grade 7 to age 21. Artists can participate in one, two or all three opportunities for visual artists at Illuminate. However, space is limited and scheduling will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis so apply early! Scheduling and further information will be sent to successfull applicants in early August.
