Lorraine Klaasen, daughter of legendary South African jazz singer Thandie Klaasen, continues to preserve the classic, distinctive sound of Township Music for appreciative audiences worldwide. Raised in Soweto, this longtime Montréal resident has the dynamic stage presence to complement her stirring and robust voice.
In 2013, she picked up a Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year in a tribute to her personal and professional inspiration, Miriam Makeba, a legendary songstress who helped bring African music to the masses in the ‘60s. For a taste of what to expect, dip into Klaasen's most ambitious recording to date, Nouvelle Journée.
