
Award Categories
All Award recipients will receive an original work of art by a St. Albert artist and a $1,000 monetary award.
st. albert gazette Arts Champion
Recognizes an individual, organization or corporation who makes an exceptional contribution to the arts in St. Albert as a leader, volunteer, advocate, supporter, sponsor and/or philanthropist (up to two awards may be given in this category). This award is sponsored by the St. Albert Gazette.
Emerging Artist
Credits an artist in the early stages of a career, generally in their first five (5) years of practice, who is working towards becoming a recognized professional or established Artist while engaging with the community (up to 2 awards may be given in this category).
Excellence in Arts Teaching
Acknowledges the importance of teachers and instructors in arts education (up to two awards may be given in this category).
mid-career Artist
Recognizes artists whose professional careers have passed the early stages, have produced a reasonable body of work and have attained a fair degree of public exposure. Must have been practicing professionally for at least eight years to apply to this category and is a recognized amateur or professional in their field.
Youth Artist
Celebrates individuals between the ages of 13 and 21 years of age (up to two awards may be given in this category).
Lifetime Achievement in the Arts/Cultural Wall of Fame
Lifetime Achievement is awarded to artists who have made long-standing and significant achievements over the course of an entire career. This includes artistic practice, recognition by peers and the artist’s contribution to the local and broader artistic community. The recipient of the award is inducted into the Cultural Wall of Fame.
