Community events and projects are at the heart of Canada 150. Be part of a wide range of projects and activities taking place – get actively involved and show your spirit in 2017. Watch for new initiatives announced in the coming months. 


Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge

The St. Albert Community Information and Volunteer Centre along with volunteer centres across the country are taking part in the Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. Join this nation-wide campaign to encourage Canadians to give 150 hours of volunteer time in 2017 in celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary! Learn how you can give back, visit the Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge.  


Family Tail Gate Party & NCABL All-Star Game

Date: Sunday, July 16th
Time: 11 am to 5:30 pm
Location:  Legion Memorial Ball Park, 215 Sturgeon Road
Description: As we celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday, another memorable birthday will be celebrated, that being the 50th anniversary of an historic baseball league, the NCABL.  SAMBA will be hosting the NCABL All-Star game which will begin with a giant family orientated tail gate party. There will be music, including an outdoor stage with local entertainment, kid’s games and activities, face painting, a pre-game on-field show and much more.  The All-Star Game will then follow at 3:00pm.

St. Albert Legion Branch 271 – Pancake Breakfast

Date: Saturday, July 1st
Time: 7 am to 9:30 pm
Location:  Legion Branch 271 - 6 Tache Street
Cost: $5.00 per person
Description: Canada 150 team will be assisting and 3 Canada 150 songwriting finalists will be performing at 8am

Swallow Crescent Celebrations

Swallow Crescent in St. Albert, will be putting out 150 flags for Canada day. On Canada day, starting at 9am, they will also be serving 150 cupcakes to visitors and will be accepting Foodbank donations.


St. Albert Farmers' Market

Celebrate July 1st at the Market! Come down Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain or shine) for Western Canada's Largest Outdoor Farmers' Market. Located in the heart of downtown St. Albert on St. Anne Street, St. Thomas Street and the St. Anne Promenade. 


Oh Canada, St. Albert Painters Guild Art Show and Sale

Date: Friday, April 28th
Time: 7 pm to 9 pm
Location:  City Hall Rotunda, 5 St. Anne Street, St. Albert
Description: Gala Reception, Meet the Artists - Canada 150 Celebration (Wine and Cheese will be available). In addition to the amazing art show and sale showcasing the many talented artists who belong to the Guild, we are hosting a Canada 150 Celebration throughout the weekend with a fundraiser in support of the St. Albert Food Bank. Guild members will be painting and selling 150 small paintings, all with a Canada theme and selling for $20 each. 


Canada 150 Remembers - Royal Canadian Legion Vimy 100th Anniversary Event

Date: April 9
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.271, 6 Taché Street, St. Albert
Description: Join the Royal Canadian Legion St. Albert Branch #271 at their open house to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The public is invited to the Legion to view displays and listen to speakers. Canada 150 will be on hand.


The New St. Albert History Gallery

Date: April 1, 2017
Time: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Musée Héritage Museum - 19 Perron Street, St. Albert
Description: In honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation, join us for a celebratory afternoon combining local and national Canadian history. We are thrilled to unveil our brand new St. Albert History Gallery. Through new exhibits, explore a variety of stories from the earliest people to modern-day events. The new flexible layout means you can look forward to regular story rotations that cover a wider range of subjects!
