Children’s Festival Volunteering

For almost 40 years now, an army of volunteers have contributed thousands of hours to making the International Children’s Festival of the Arts an exemplary event in our community. To keep everyone safe during COVID-19, we have gone online—creating some innovative and inspiring programming to keep children and families engaged in the arts in a year where they need it more than ever. As such, we are not asking volunteers to sign up to help in their usual roles.

How Can You Support the Children’s Festival in 2021?

From April 28 to June 6, 2021, we will celebrate 40 years of the Children’s Festival through 40 Days of Play. Each day a creative prompt promoting safe, independent, and creative play will be released on childfest.com and we encourage everyone in our community to play along!

  • Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and share our posts.
  • Add our Children's Festival Butterfly frame to your Facebook profile picture.
  • Participate in the daily prompts and show us your PLAYful creativity.

40 Years of Volunteering

As we celebrate 40 years of Children’s Festival, we must take a moment to recognize that means 40 years of volunteering. 40 years of passionate citizens generously giving us their time, to not only make the Festival run smoothly, but also packing as much joy and laughter into the Festival week as possible.

We are grateful to the thousands of volunteers over the last four decades that have made this event come alive. We are looking forward to needing your help again in 2022. But in the meantime, we hope to “see” you online—posting pictures of butterfly crafts and sharing how you’ve decorated your house in the spirit of the Festival!

COVID-19 public health measures
We ask when participating in the virtual Festival that you follow all provincial public health measures, including physical distancing. For more details, visit the Government of Alberta’s Stronger Public Health Measures.
