A Storied Past: Recollections of St. Albert 

A Storied Past is a program to document, share and preserve the history of St. Albert through personal stories. The stories are meant to inform, educate and delight residents and visitors and will be preserved for future generations. 

Locations

Locations in St. Albert were chosen based on:

  • Existing historical information such as photos, oral and written history
  • Accessibility by walking, biking or transit
  • Social and Entertainment value
  • Historical relevancy to the community

The following locations in St. Albert were chosen:

  1. The Brickyard
  2. Interurban Railway
  3. Edmonton Canoe Club
  4. Lorne Akins Farm and Ranch
  5. Sir Winston Churchill Marker
  6. Old Town Hall
  7. Centennial Library
  8. North West Mounted Police and Log Cabin
  9. Mission Neighbourhood 
  10. St. Albert United Church
  11. Ducky Dome
  12. Community Hall And Post Office

Next Steps

The next steps for this project will include fact checking the information submitted, formalizing the stories through creative writing and sharing the stories with the public. More information about the process and timeline will be announced when available.
