Our Path

The Path we are Forging Together

  • We have a permanent, full-time position dedicated to supporting Indigenous Relations and the work of Reconciliation.
  • We are developing neighbour-to-neighbour relationships with nearby Indigenous communities.
  • We have a Land Acknowledgement
  • We consider Indigenous perspectives in our decision making.
  • We have provided all staff with training materials on Indigenous history and culture.
  • We meet regularly with representatives of the Indigenous community, vising local First Nations and taking part in their events.
  • We support grassroots efforts to acknowledge special days that are significant to the Indigenous community.
    • National Ribbon Skirt Day
    • National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit People (Red Dress Day)
    • Moose Hide Campaign Day
    • Métis Spring Festival
    • National Indigenous Peoples Day
    • Treaty Six Recognition and Territorial Acknowledgement Day
    • National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day)
    • International Inuit Day
    • National Indigenous Veterans Day
    • Métis Week
  • Where appropriate, we host events and recognize Indigenous days of significance.
  • We share a selection of relevant resources, to help our community learn more about Indigenous history and perspectives.
