Cherot

Chérot is a masterplanned St. Albert community characterized by its elevated architecture and cohesive design inspired by France. Within Chérot is Chelles Park, home to the Paris Playground, which features a 25’ tall replica Eiffel Tower.

History
Chérot is named for Emile and Celestine Cherot. They were married in France in 1909 and came to Canada in 1911. After working their way to St. Albert, they grew market vegetables on 45 acres of land on the green belt between St. Albert and Edmonton. The community name Chérot translates to “Darling” or “High Value.”.

The approved Chérot Area Structure Plan (ASP) identifies the titled area for Chérot East as approximately 100 hectares± and the anticipated developable area is 76.8 hectares.  The residential area is approximately 40 hectares±, which is 52%± of the developable area. In the low density units, of which 961 units are projected, 2.90 persons per household are anticipated.  In the medium density residential 328 units are projects at 2.23 persons per household.  In the high density residential, 308 units are projected and the number of persons per household is 1.76.  The population for Chérot East is estimated at 4,060 residents with a planned density of 40 dwelling units per net residential hectare.
