Housing Diversity Action Plan

At the March 16, 2015 Council meeting, Council received the final Housing Diversity Action Plan, that outlines 28 actions for the City to improve housing diversity and affordability.  The City will hold primary responsibility for implementation, in collaboration with many stakeholders, including the development industry, non-profit housing providers, and other levels of government.

The Housing Diversity Action Plan focuses on three priority areas:

  1. Housing for singles, small households, and workforce housing
  2. Housing for seniors and people with disabilities
  3. Leadership and policy direction for housing stability and affordability

Home Ownership Assistance Programs

The Homebuyer's Plan allows you to withdraw up to $25,000 from your registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) to buy or build a qualifying home for yourself or a related person with a disability.

The Home Program offers free workshops held twice a year in St. Albert, and at various times of the year in Edmonton, to assist moderate income individuals and families to become homeowners.
