Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program
The Alberta Government has recently announced the Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program, which will give eligible senior homeowners the ability to defer all or part of their property taxes through a low-interest equity loan.
How it works: The Program, offered directly through the Alberta government, will give eligible seniors a low-interest loan that is secured against their home's equity to pay all or part of their property taxes to the municipality on the homeowner's behalf. The loan is repaid with interest when the senior sells their home, is no longer eligible for the loan, or at any other time they choose. The Seniors Property Tax Deferral program is 100% voluntary.
Eligible seniors must apply directly to the Program.
