Water Demand Management Measure C
Water Demand Management Measure C is typically enacted when reservoirs are forecasted to be below 20 per cent of the combined available volume.
As a result, there are mandatory water restrictions on non-essential potable water use for all municipal operations.
All residents, businesses, institutions and other organizations are required to suspend outdoor water use and are strongly encouraged to limit indoor water use.
A total restriction on water irrigation is in effect including, but not limited to hoses, sprinklers, the filling of pools, Jacuzzis and hot tubs or other outdoor uses. Only water remaining in rain barrels is to be used for outdoor uses.
What You Can Do
Residents can further limit water use by doing the following:
- Reduce water use during peak demand periods: 6 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
- Turn the water off while brushing your teeth.
- Make sure that washing machines and dishwashers are full before using.
- Ensure you have a pitcher of water in the refrigerator for drinking so you won’t have to let the water run to get cold water.
Impact on City Programs and Services
The City will discontinue all non-essential activities involving potable water use, including:
- Hydrant flushing
- Non-emergency sewer flushing
- Street sweeping
- Dust abatement
- Pool filling
- Construction water
- Park watering
- Establishing or maintaining indoor and outdoor ice surfaces
- Firefighter training
- Bulk water stations
- Washing City vehicles (including buses)
- Closing Versailles Park Splash Pad and Woodlands Water Play Park
