After Hours Water and Wastewater Emergency Contact

Emergency water shut off requests during the regular business hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. can be directed to the City of St. Albert Public Works at 780-459-1557. After hours emergency (including weekends and holidays) can be directed to the after-hours emergency hotline at 780-458-2020.

The City of St. Albert Public Works can be contacted during regular business hours with requests to have the water shut off, free of charge, at the cc water valve. These requests are typically for internal plumbing repairs where the whole property needs to be isolated from the City distribution system. Non-emergency water shut off activities during regular business hours remains free of charge.

All water turn on activities outside of regular business hours is subject to Utility Billing approval and a $75.00 surcharge that will be added to the property utility account. The property tenant must be present for all water turn on/off activities.

The City requires a minimum of 48 hours notice to have the water shut off so the valve can be inspected and tested for operation. Once the valve has been tested, the resident will be contacted to discuss if any repairs to the valve are required and advised if the plumber appointment can be scheduled.

The City of St. Albert does not permit private plumbing contractors to operate the City-owned cc valve.

The City does not operate the cc water valve for requests relating to 'snow bird' activities and the property owner maintains the responsibility to ensure that the internal plumbing system is protected from freezing and damage during their absence.
