Large Item Drop Off

Location: Jack Kraft Parking Lot (7 Chevigny St.)
Do you need to get rid of an old couch or dishwasher? Drop off your oversized items at the Large Item Drop Off Event!
Are Extra Garbage Bag Tags Needed for this Program?
Each item requires two (2) "extra garbage" bag tags which must be purchased and attached to the item before the event.
WHERE CAN I GET EXTRA GARBAGE TAGS?
"Extra garbage" tags can be purchased at St. Albert Place, Fountain Park Recreation Centre or Servus Credit Union Place. Please note there will be no cashiers on-site and that tags will not be sold at the event. More information on "extra garbage" tags can be found under Brown Garbage Cart.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH EXTRA BAGS OF GARBAGE?
Standard bags of residential garbage can be dropped off at the Recycling Depot at any time during or after this event at the cost of one (1) "extra garbage" tag per bag.

Furniture: Mattresses, box springs, couches, sofas, dressers, bed frames, lawn furniture, chairs, and other household furniture items too large for your Brown Garbage Cart | Appliances: Washers, dryers, ovens, stoves, microwaves and other large household appliances (Note: Fridges, freezers, water coolers or anything containing freon/coolant will NOT be accepted) |
Other Items: Too large for the Brown Garbage Cart, such as bike frames, large toys and shelving |
Unacceptable Items
All of the following items will be turned away on site:

Commercial waste or non-residential waste (Staff may check for ID) | Fridges, freezers, water coolers or anything containing freon/coolant |
Construction and renovation waste (e.g. lumber, drywall, building materials, etc.) | Fuel containers or pressurized canisters (e.g. propane or oxygen tanks) |
Tires, automotive parts, barbeques | Lawn mowers, trimmer, any gas-powered tool |
Hazardous waste (e.g. paints, oils, cleaners) or electronics. These items can be dropped off at the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot during regular hours of operation | Biomedical waste |
What Items are Acceptable to Drop Off?

Acceptable Items
Furniture
- Mattresses and box springs
- Couches, sofas, lawn furniture
- Dressers, bed frames
- Any other furniture too large for your Brown Garbage Cart
Appliances
- Washers and dryers
- Dishwashers, ovens, stoves, microwaves
- Hot water tanks
Note: Any appliances containing freon or coolant (Fridges, freezers, water coolers) are not accepted and must go to a City of Edmonton Facility
General Items
Any items that are too large for your Brown Garbage Cart, such as bike frames, large toys, carpet, pianos, and shelving are accepted, as long as they are not listed under "Unacceptable Items" below.
Unacceptable Items

- Electronics can be disposed of free of charge at the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot
- This includes gas powered tools such as lawn mowers and trimmers
- Household hazardous waste (paint, oil, cleaners) go to the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot
Freon or Coolant
Appliances containing freon or coolant must go to a City of Edmonton Facility
Fuel Containers
- Propane and oxygen tanks go to a City of Edmonton Facility
- Barbecues can be disposed of at the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot as scrap metal, once the fuel has been removed
General Unacceptable items
- Construction and demolition materials (lumber, drywall, building materials) go to a City of Edmonton Facility
- Tires go to the Mike Mitchell Recycling Depot
- Biomedical waste must be disposed of in accordance with provincial health regulations
- Commercial waste will be turned away by onsite staff
