Canada Day 2018
St. Albert Celebrates Canada Day presented by True North Heating and Cooling is a chance to dress in your best red and white and join the community in celebrating this wonderful country we call home! Join the City of St. Albert on July 1 for an exciting day filled with family friendly activities and exciting entertainment! City parks, facilities, and historical sites will see a fun variety of events, allowing for residents of all ages and interests to celebrate this historic anniversary!
The day celebration will continue to be at Riel Recreation Park. There is parking on site or Park and Ride will be available. The park is located along the Red Willow Trail System and there will be a bike check for those who would like to take advantage of our wonderful trail system and bike or walk to the event. The celebration will include a concert, treats, games, inflatables, crafts and much more. In the evening, a night concert presented by Servus Credit Union will take place at St. Albert Place followed by fireworks presented by Kinsmen Club of St. Albert at 11 p.m. at Mission Park. Around the City
A number of partnering groups will be hosting their own Canada Day celebrations around St. Albert, including:
- St. Albert Botanic Park
- St. Albert Farmers' Market
- Father Lacombe Chapel
- St. Albert Grain Elevator Park
- Little White School House
- St. Albert Soccer Association
- St. Albert Rugby Football Club
And there’s always room for more people and groups to participate in these festivities! If you would like to explore how your group can participate this year or next, contact Scott Daniels.
St. Albert Transit will be providing a FREE shuttle service from Village Transit Station to the Canada Day festivities around St. Albert on July 1. The Park and Ride will run from 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
What to Bring
To get the most out of your Canada Day, please consider bringing the following: lawn chair, sunscreen, water bottle, blanket (to sit on the grass), umbrella (for shade and in the event of rain), hat, and comfortable walking shoes.
Preparations for Canada Day 2018 are well underway and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who would like to lend a hand during the July 1 celebrations at Riel Recreation Park. We need volunteers throughout the day in a number of capacities including:
- Public ambassadors
- Information booth attendants
- Program Assistants (inflatables, crafts, cookies, face painting, and games)
- Stage hands
- Evening concert ambassadors
Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are be available.
