The Magical World of Summer Camps at Servus Place
Step through the doors of Servus Place during the months of July and August and you’ll suddenly find yourself among superheroes, princesses, star athletes, master chefs, circus acrobats, mad scientists, engineers, and even some Hogwarts-trained magicians.
Summer camps at Servus offer a place for a child’s imagination to run wild while making new friends, building important life skills and most importantly – having fun!
Summer camps are designed to be positive, playful experiences. Campers are active and learn how to build relationships; whether that’s with other children, with themselves or the instructors.
The camps themselves offer a variety of themed activities. Wizardry for Muggles will welcome a Quidditch expert to show our Hogwarts Houses the rules of the game. Campers in BFF Club will team up to try suspension yoga at Soul Fitness, while those in the Challengers camp will test their Ninja Warrior skills out at City Fit Shop. In the popular cooking and baking camps, campers will decorate cupcakes and cookies at Confections Bakeshop (parents, maybe you’ll get a taste test!). And the Nature Detectives camps will visit the Art Gallery of St. Albert to try their hands at printmaking using things found in nature.
Back at Servus Place, all campers except for the preschoolers will swim at least once during the week in the Landrex Water Play Centre or at Grosvenor Outdoor Pool. Every Tuesday, campers will take part in our loose parts play area. They can let their imaginations and creativity run wild using natural and upcycled materials in a supervised environment. And new this year – Archery Tag and airbrush tattoos!
Camper safety and care is a top concern at Servus Place. Our camp staff is a veteran squad (almost every single leader is a returning staff member from last year). They are enthusiastic, caring people who focus on providing an environment that is safe and fun while fostering confidence in our campers.
Safety is of utmost importance which is why we uphold a standard staff to child ratio – 1:12 for ages 9-12, 1:10 for ages 6-9 and 1:8 for ages 3-5.
Pre- and post-care is available to add an extra level of flexibility to parent or caregiver schedules. With a variety of activities for children including quiet activities, board games, stories, arts and crafts and more, they’ll be engaged and entertained at the same time.
Whether you’re looking for a camp for your child to build important skills, make friends, learn to cook, or simply just have fun and stay active this summer, we’re here for you! Check out all the camps at stalbert.ca/recprograms.
