Use of Artificial Intelligence
The City of St. Albert is committed to transparent, accountable, ethical and secure use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Generation (NLG) technologies. The City will maintain transparency and accountability in all its AI operations.
AI technology will be used in a manner that respects privacy and confidentiality, aligns with applicable Access and Privacy Legislation, meets security requirements, ensures accuracy, and provides fair, non-discriminatory content.
All AI-generated content will be disclosed/attributed, regardless of purpose or extent.
To support this commitment the City has:
- Provided guidance for employees on how to use AI appropriately
- Developed mandatory training for employees which includes the ethical and secure use of AI
- Directed that employees must review AI outputs and be accountable for ensuring they are accurate, non-discriminatory, unbiased, and consistent with City values.
- Restricted the creation or use of any “real life” images or video generated by any AI tools
- Restricted use to only organization-approved AI tools or systems meeting the City’s standards for security and privacy
