City Services During Postal Disruption

To prepare for a possible Canada Post service disruption, the City has outlined alternative ways to access or pay City services. The City recommends taking the steps you need to make sure your payments arrive on time.

Property Assessment and Tax Notices

2025 property assessment and tax notices were mailed to property owners on May 16. Property tax payments need to be made on or before June 30.

Haven’t received your notice? Assessment and Tax information is available online through Property Search Tools on the City of St. Albert website.

Plan to pay ahead to avoid late payment penalties. There are multiple options available including your financial institution, online, in-person or by mail. To see all payment options visit Ways to Pay Your Taxes.

Ebilling

Ebilling is also now available for taxes.  You “opt-in” to receive your notice electronically through the secure MyCity portal avoiding any potential mailing delays. Sign up today at my.stalbert.ca with your roll number and access code from your last tax bill.

In-Person Payments

To make payments in-person from June 1 to 22, St. Albert Place front counter service hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From June 23 to 30, front counter service hours are extended between from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Outside Normal Business Hours

Outside normal business hours, you can drop off your payment through the mail slot on the right-hand side of the front doors at St. Albert Place. Do not deposit cash.

If you have questions, contact the Tax Department by phone 780-459-1516 or email taxation@stalbert.ca from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We would be pleased to assist with these new options.

Paying City Utility Bills

With the disruption in mail service, the City has several ways that residents and businesses can pay their City utility bills.

  • Pre-authorized withdrawal – Customers can enroll in pre-authorized withdrawal to ensure their utility payments are made on time without needing to view a copy of their bill. Call 780-459-1520, option 2 or email utilities_services@stalbert.ca
  • Online and Telephone Banking – Payments can be made through most financial institutions.
  • Credit Card - Customers can login to MyCity and use their credit card to pay their utility account balance.
  • In-person – Payments for all services can be made in-person at Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street. Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Quick Drop Box (right side of main door) – Payments can be made by cheque or money order (no cash) at St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street (after business hours, weekends and holidays).

Customers can find out their utility balance by registering and logging into MyCity. Alternatively, customers can email utilities_services@stalbert.ca or call Utilities Services at 780-459-1520, option 2.

Paying Dog Licences

If you require account information, please contact Municipal Enforcement by phone at 780-418-6644 or email doglicensing@stalbert.ca.

  • Online Services -You will need your five-digit account number. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards (Visa Debit is not accepted). See Managing Dog Licences for specific renewal instructions
  • MyCity - This service allows licence holders to purchase licences and replacement tags, update a spayed/neutered status, and view account details and billing histories.
  • Online and Telephone Banking – Payments can be made through most financial institutions. Use the payee name "City of St. Albert Dog Licence" (the phrasing may vary by bank).
  • In-person – Payments for all services can be made in-person at Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street. Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or at the RCMP Detachment Front Counter Services, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Business Licensing

During the possible postal disruption, please note that hard copies of your licence can no longer be mailed. Please contact Business Licensing by phone at 780-459-1618 to discuss other options.

For information on various licence payment options, visit Licence Renewals, Payments and Fees

The City is reviewing other City services should the mail disruption occur. More information will be available as it's confirmed.
