City Services During Postal Strike
St. Albert Transit (StAT) Bus Passes
With the disruption in mail service, the City is providing Subsidy transit riders using Local Passes with two options for December.
- Local pass users can keep using their November Local pass in December. Transit Drivers will allow the use of November Local Passes as valid fare in December.
- If an individual, for whatever reason, is uncomfortable using the November Local pass, they are welcome to come to Community Services Front Counter in St. Albert Place to pick up a December Local pass in person.
- Please note this only applies to residents who have been approved for the transit subsidy.
- Please also note that this does not apply to commuter passes. The normal process will continue to be in place, which is for transit riders to purchase the commuter pass in person.
Paying City Utility Bills
With the disruption in mail service, the City has several ways that residents and businesses can pay their City utility bills.
Delivery of paper invoices will be dependent on Canada Post. Residents are still responsible for payment of their utility bills during the Canada Post strike. We encourage you to sign up for ebilling through MyCity to avoid missing your bill.
Payments can be made as follows:
- Pre-authorized withdrawal – Customers can enroll in pre-authorized withdrawal to ensure their utility payments are made on time without needing to view a copy of their bill. Call 780-459-1520, option 2 or email utilities_services@stalbert.ca
- Online and Telephone Banking – Payments can be made through most financial institutions
- In-person – Payments for all services can be made in-person at Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street. Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Quick Drop Box (right side of main door) – Payments can be made by cheque or money order (no cash) at St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street (after business hours, weekends and holidays).
Customers can find out their utility balance by emailing utilities_services@stalbert.ca or by calling Utilities Services at 780-459-1520, option 2.
Paying Dog Licences
The 2025 Dog Licence Renewals have been generated. If you have signed up for e-billing, you should have received your invoice via email. Delivery of paper invoices will be dependent on Canada Post. Licence holders are still responsible for payment of their dog licence for the 2025 year during the Canada Post strike.
You may sign up for ebilling now, through your MyCity account, but please keep in mind this will be for the 2026 year. If you require this year's account information, please contact Municipal Enforcement by phone at 780-418-6644 or email doglicensing@stalbert.ca.
Payment is due by January 31, 2025 and can be completed as follows:
- Online Services -You will need your five-digit account number. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards (Visa Debit is not accepted). See Managing Dog Licences for specific renewal instructions
- Online and Telephone Banking – Payments can be made through most financial institutions. Use the payee name "City of St. Albert Dog Licence" (the phrasing may vary by bank).
- In-person – Payments for all services can be made in-person at Customer Service, main floor, St. Albert Place, 5 St. Anne Street. Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or at the RCMP Detachment Front Counter Services, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
