City Priorities for 2023 Provincial Election
The Provincial Government has a critical role to play in addressing the challenges faced by the City of St. Albert, its residents and its businesses.
With the new Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) starting in 2025-2026, the Province has tied operational funding for municipalities to provincial revenue growth, which provides more predictability and enhanced funding than past models.
However, the City of St. Albert, and most municipalities in Alberta, do not have certainty regarding infrastructure funding levels, which are subject to change with each Provincial Budget.
St. Albert residents and businesses are encouraged to ask questions throughout the provincial election campaign on topics like municipal funding, affordable housing, transit, policing, social programs, and other topics that matter to St. Albertans.
The City will share suggested questions on social media in the coming weeks, ahead of the May 29, 2023 Provincial Election using the hashtag #StAlbertAsks2023.
